The Canadian Federal Government has ended its consultation to the Canadian public, and now have in hands statistics that indicate clearly what the majority of Canadians want from the television they watch.
The vast majority of Canadians want their local stations to remain as part of their communities; but they believe that this should not become a new charge on their cable or satellite bills.
During these consultations, industry and individuals gave suggestions in how to achieve this goal and alternative solutions. Since the parts involved did not compromise on their initial demands, the Minister of Heritage and other related offices will have to legislate on this issue. There's not a fixed date to this, but the end of February seems to be the most likely timeframe.
I'll be closing this site very soon as it achieved it's maturity and reached it's goal, what was to inform people about what was going to happen to their local TV. I have tried during this last year to maintain a neutral position as much as possible. When I was addressing the CRTC as a consumer of Television I was able to state my views and I hope that somehow I have helped our communities to keep these small but fundamental parts of our Canadian way of life - our local TV.

This website was created due to the need to alert Canadians of impending closure of most Local TV Stations across Canada.
We believe in locally produced News and Television within a viable economic model. The Rules and Regulations stablished by the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television Telecommunications Commission ) at the moment are in dire need of modernization in order to suport loccaly produced television in an environment of Speciality Channels, Cable, Internet and Satelite Television.
The site is in constant development and your comments, suggestions and contributions are welcome.
